Newly acquired works on view at the Iwate Museum of Art, Morioka
The Iwate Museum of Art collects works by artists with ties to Iwate, spanning the Meiji period to the present. In 2024, the museum acquired four works by Kishio Suga, including an installation. These four works, together with a three works on loan, will be on view to illustrate Suga’s practice from the 1980s to the present.

In a related event The Iwate Museum of Art is hosting a conversation between Kishio Suga and Rikuhei Murai, the owner of Gallery Saiensu in Morioka, where Suga has held numerous exhibitions. The two will discuss their connections from art school, the origins of Mono-ha, and the process of creating and exhibiting works at the gallery. (*Depending on circumstances, Suga's appearance may be held online.)
