Kishio Suga: The Existence of “Things” and the Eternity of “Site”

Published on the occasion of the exhibition held at Iwate Museum of Art, Morioka (December 18, 2021 – February 20, 2022).

This survey exhibition focuses on the artist’s relationship with his home region of Iwate Prefecture. It looks back at more than half a century of Suga’s artistic practice through a selection of some 120 works, including pieces shown in Iwate and a piece made especially for the exhibition, covering a wide range of media such as installation, relief, drawing, photography, and documentary film, divided into ten-year periods.

This fully illustrated, bilingual catalogue includes essays by Akira Tatehata (President of Tama Art University), Mayumi Hamabuchi (Curator, Iwate Museum of Art), as well as a text by and interview with Kishio Suga.
